George Lewis (Bud) Harvey (98) died peacefully on March 5, 2020. He was born in Danville, Indiana on Aug 1, 1921 to George R and Pearl Link Harvey. He lived most of his life in Danville. He married Alice Amy, the love of his long life, in January 1942 and together they had 8 children: Amy Jo Martin, Laguna Beach, CA; Jean (Dick) Curtis, Indianapolis; Fred (Martina) Harvey, Danville; Dick (Kathy) Harvey, Danville; Mike (Lita) Harvey, Chalfont, PA; Ann (Pete) Geissler, Germantown, TN; Bill; and Sarah Harvey, Roberts, MT. Through these children came 14 grandchildren, 2 step grandsons, and 25 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife of 68 years, his son Bill, and his sister Catherine Dean (Cookie). George was a World War 2 veteran, serving in the Navy Seabees in the Pacific theater. George was a bridge contractor who owned and operated the firm of George R Harvey and Son, building many bridges around central Indiana. He was an outdoorsman with a love of hunting and fishing, a pastime that provided many a meal. He was an excellent trap shooter who won many awards, including the Indiana State Trapshooting Championships for his age group in 1991 and 1992, and, with his son Fred, the Parent-Child State Championships in 1991 and 1992. He gathered faith and strength from his Catholic faith, worshipping at Mass regularly, and often daily, at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church where he was a founding member. Visitation will be at Baker Funeral Home, Danville on Sunday March 8 from 2 – 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Monday March 9 at Mary Queen of Peace, Danville.
