OBITUARY
Robert Lanham, 86, of Cartersburg, passed away surrounded by loving family members. He was born on May 29, 1936 in Bloomington, IL to the late Weldon and Alice Lanham. Robert was a United States Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He was the manager for Marsh Grocery Store when he retired and worked at Marsh for 37 years. Robert was a member of the Speedway VFW #1587, Englewood Masonic Lodge #715, Brownsburg American Legion #331 and Mary Queen-Peace Catholic Church. He volunteered at the Cartersburg Fire Department and was the President for 10 years. Robert enjoyed selling guns and bowling in his free time. He and Marita were snowbirds for 17 years, traveling to Florida in the winter time. Robert was preceded in death by a daughter, Natalie Lanham; sister, Joyce Doty; 2 grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 3, 2022 in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and one hour prior to the Funeral Mass held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 10:00 am in the Mary Queen-Peace Catholic Church (1005 W. Main Street, Danville, IN 46122). Burial will follow in Center Valley Cemetery. Survivors include his loving wife, Marita Lanham; sons, David Lanham, James Childers and Brian Kempf; daughters, Cindy Kublnick, Jane Venezia, Patty Hazelgrove and Suelyn Western; sister, Bonnie Day; 25 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren with one on the way! In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Hendricks County Community Foundation for the Ben Kempf Memorial Legacy Fund in honor of Robert Lanham at 6319 E.
